A Letter From Santa

Dear Piper and Callie,

I normally don’t have time to write notes for all the boys and girls I deliver presents to, but you are very special and I want to explain why I chose these gifts for you.

I know you’ve recently read The Lorax and you now understand how important it is for the trees, animals, air we breathe and water we drink that we don’t ask for too many things we don’t really need to have. It can be hard to remember that at Christmas time! But you’ve learned a very important lesson that not many kids will ever learn. I know that because you understand the lesson of The Lorax that you are very wise, and therefore I have decided to give you small, but very meaningful gifts this year.

You can probably already feel books. I know you think they’re a bit boring and you’ve asked your mom lots of times why she likes to read. I think I know the answer. It’s because stories have the power to change us – to help us learn, see new perspectives, and grow into better people. Books hold the most magical gift of all – stories that stick with us for a lifetime. That’s a better gift than any toy I’ve ever built in my workshop. I’ve chosen a very special book from my personal collection for each of you.

The second gift is a blank book made just for you. Fill its pages with your stories – big or small. Ask mom and dad to help you and keep practicing your own writing. Your words matter – they can change the world.

Merry Christmas!

Love Santa
