Did you know that you can train your brain to stop overwhelm from kicking your butt? It’s a skill every mom should know!

When we are in the moment, overwhelm seems like something that takes us by storm. We are powerless. It hits us like a ton of bricks.

But girl you can be stronger than that rush of stress that comes in the overwhelming moments!

And your first line of defense is stopping the blow by using one of these EPIC PHRASES.

OK, I think they’re epic anyway. Because they work!

Using these phrases brings instant perspective and relief from the overwhelm punch in the face that would otherwise leave me snapping at my kids or crying.

💫 “Activate Super Mom Mode.”

I tell myself this phrase when my kids are getting on my very last nerve and I can feel myself getting completely overwhelmed in a situation.

Close eyes, deep breath, and then I turn myself into this imaginary super hero who is able to keep her cool. Super Mom doesn’t erupt and yell at her kids – she has a magic shield of defense and nothing can bother her!

💫 “Pick one. Get it done.”

When I feel that to-do list in my head starting to run out of control, this is a great phrase to remind myself that I don’t have to do 100 things in one moment. I just need to choose 1 task to complete, do it, and then move on to the next. And eventually the list will get done and I will have overcome the overwhelm without getting defeated.

💫 “It’s probably going to be OK.”

Emphasis on the “probably.” Saying “it’s going to be OK” just falls flat (at least in my head) but when I say to myself that things are probably going to be OK, I’m like “well yeah duh things are probably going to be OK. This is silly!” Something about adding the PROBABLY really gives some perspective that helps me to see the overwhelm as a temporary feeling that I’m choosing to just dismiss because I know things are probably going to work out anyway.

There you have it! The next time you feel overwhelm is creeping in ready to punch you in the gut, use one of these epic phrases to stop it cold!
